Samsung Galaxy S4 vs HTC M7 vs Sony Odin / Yuga vs LG Optimus G2
The speed of smartphones over the last two years have developed impressive. Two years ago we speculated about the first aircraft with a dual-core processor, and now we are now fully accustomed to smartphones with a quad-core system-on-a-chip (SoC). What brings us 2013, and which devices should the insanely competitive (Android) smart phone market go up against the Samsung Galaxy S4?
The device which is currently being written much about is HTC’s next top model. No, not the Butterfly, which we now know that this is not to Europe goes, but a mysterious device with the codename M7. This occurs M7 HTC is at a crucial moment. The Taiwanese company has a difficult time recently, which on the one hand, great devices to the market, but somehow failed here big sales successes to be gained. Obviously, the M7 should be here change brings.
And let’s be honest: the leaked specifications do not lie: a 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, and a full HD 1080p display with a diagonal of 4.7 inches. And indeed, we are talking about a pixel density of 468 pixels per inch – Apple’s famous Retina display remains stabbing a ‘skinny’ 326 pixels per inch. To complete the look, the M7 also going to have a 13 megapixel camera and Sense 5.0, the latest version of HTC’s own interface. Furthermore, it seems that its HTC Beats Audio feature develops, a software improvement, to a real hardware solution using a Beats Audio amplifier – which we obviously find the M7.
Although nothing is known about it, we expect the M7 – or how the device really is called – can be seen at the Mobile World Congress in late February.
Sony Odin / Yuga
HTC is not the only one – besides Samsung – big plans for 2013. Sony Ericsson freed in 2012, and hit a new Xperia series a new path. And where the Xperia S with respect to the then still at a competitive disadvantage was spacious, the recent Xperia t have a lot more time. But the real fireworks of the Japanese is yet to come, in the form of one or more devices with the code names Odin and Yuga.
It is currently not clear what exactly what device, but that a model with a quad-core processor in between is almost certain. Of the Yuga and Odin is claimed to be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC running at around 1.5 GHz (although there are rumors Sony a smart phone with an Exynos processor – Samsung yes – the market will bring). Sony to these smartphones along in the “Resolution race ‘, the devices feature a 5-inch full HD 1080p display. This would then make use of Sony’s own “White Magic” technology, which we already know from the Xperia P. There are also 2 GB of RAM, and 32 GB storage standard.
Sony would not be if there are no impressive camera onboard would be, and so we hear rumors about 12 and 13 megapixel models, obviously with an Exmor sensor. In contrast to the HTC M7, we have at least Sony’s Yuga even though pictures. They show a really high-end device, with what looks like a glass back. Very beautiful, but also a little fragile.
When we have the new generation Xperia smart phone will begin to see no one knows, but since the Xperia T actually just coming on the market, it seems likely that it will take could last.
LG Optimus G2
Indeed, LG ‘s Optimus S is in our country, not even on the market, and we are already talking about the Optimus G2. The reason is clear: the Optimus S is in some parts of the world are already on sale, and although it is technically a very nice smartphone, it is also for LG clear that more will be needed to compete with Samsung far in 2013 full account. Hence the G2.
According to rumors , the G2 feature 5.5-inch display (some sources speak of ‘only’ 5 inches), not surprisingly, a 1080p resolution. A larger screen means in principle a lower pixel density, and therefore less sharp image, but let’s be realistic: with these resolutions is that really did not matter much. Obviously there will be a quad-core processor on board, possibly a Snapdragon model, as in the first Optimus G.
When the LG Optimus G2 will bring out is not known, but because the device really the flagship of 2013, this will not be very late in the year to happen.
Samsung Galaxy S4
Well, and then the device that everyone secretly a little expected that this device of the year will be: Samsung’s Galaxy S4. And brief look at the rumors around the unit – 5 inch 1080p display, a quad-core Exynos 5440 SoC, and possibly a 13 megapixel camera – shows that it is not terribly far will run on the above competitors.
However, the expectations around the quadcore Exynos 5440 SoC high: a real ARM Cortex A15 processor in a quad configuration, which may also be assisted by four Cortex A7 cores for a drastic energy savings.
Additionally, Samsung, as always with the Galaxy S series, another trump card: the Amoled screen. There is a lot afgespeculeerd about whether or not it is possible to fabricate AMOLED screen with a pixel density high enough for a 1080p display in a smartphone to stop. But everyone seems to now agree: yes, it is possible – and Samsung will do. All the above devices are equipped with an LCD screen, the image of which is undoubtedly fantastic, but which is simply not the infinite, provides an impressive contrast Amoled screen.
About the appearance of the Galaxy S4 is at present nothing is known, and knowing Samsung will be a priority to make this the revelation as to keep. Some hope for a change to a aluminum body , but it is difficult to deny that the Koreans with the Galaxy S2 and S3 two extremely solid plastic devices have built.
About disclosure and release date of the Galaxy S4 is now speculation. Our own estimation: a release in May, preceded by unveiling the end of April.
A good year, 2013
In 2012, Samsung was the master (Android) smartphone market, and it’s up to HTC, Sony, LG and here change that. Clearly the manufacturers hard to hammer away, and will come with appliances that will sell their lives dearly. But where is Apple then, we hear you’re pretty much asking? Well, Apple will be sometime in 2013 with the iPhone 5S coming. But this device is still so little known (okay, the screen would be a higher resolution can get), but we got him out of this equation have left.
As we already wrote before , smartphones are now technologically so far developed that a lead in that area is no longer sufficient to meet the top of the market to enter or remain. Which of the above devices in 2013 the popular will appear depends on more factors. Much more. Besides the user experience and the right PR, is in our opinion a factor by which a manufacturer could score big in 2013: battery life. The first is a high end device with which you can easily do two days without recharging (and we mean heavy use) has a huge trump card. Unfortunately, about the above devices in fact little really known.
For the enthusiast there is at least enough to enjoy next year. The technique makes another leap: from 720 to 1080 screens, Cortex A9 to A15 SoC, from eight to twelve or thirteen megapixel cameras. And there are a lot of manufacturers really do it, unlike last year when both HTC, Sony, LG and actually had a role in the margin.
